Additional events: HAH will host a guided tour of Bellefield, a Farrand garden located in Hyde Park, New York. Tour tentatively scheduled for June 10th. We will also highlight some of Farrand’s plant selections by selling them at the HAH Garden Fair on May 17 & 18th.
Beatrix Farrand is one of America’s most cherished landscape designers, who created over 200 plans for public gardens and private homes during her 50-year career. Notable works include the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden at the New York Botanical Garden, the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden in Bar Harbor Maine and Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C. She was a proponent of using native plants in her designs. The only woman amongst the eleven founding members of the American Society of Landscape Architects, she was masterful at playing with height and color for energizing garden designs.
