The Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons (HAH) sponsors scholarships for qualified students of horticulture or its related fields through the Paul Karish Fund. Applications are welcomed from graduating high-school seniors and from students currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, including other professional horticultural training or certification. Scholarships are administered by the Long Island Community Foundation. 

Applications are being accepted starting February 26, 2024 through April 22, 2024 – EARTH DAY !! The LICF link may list other dates – please disregard. Note that award monies will not be distributed to individuals but be credited directly to the bursar accounts of recipients at their school or program of enrollment. Grants are renewable with annual re-application and may vary in total from original amounts. Scholarship awards will range from $1,000 to $3,000 per year.

Required information will be marked with an asterisk (*). The Long Island Community Trust application requests information that HAH does not – nor will we have access to that information. Scholarship award decisions ARE NOT influenced by information given in the optional sections. 

The HAH Scholarship Committee DOES require a letter of recommendation AND a personal statement – see instructions for details on downloading these items. Returning applicants requesting a renewal of their grant need to submit an updated personal statement, new Letter of Recommendation, and a current grade transcript. Applicants are responsible to monitor the status of their information, as incomplete submissions cannot be considered. We expect to have grant decisions by early May. Unless otherwise agreed upon; Karish Scholarship recipients agree to the use of their name and award amount in the HAH newsletter, social media posts and/or other publicity materials.
